How to get Perfect Grinding on
High-Quality Furnishing Glass?

Do you deal with glass for furniture such as glass for cabinet doors, glass for tables and coffee tables, decorative mirrors or glass for shelves in your glassworks?
In this article you can find out how to achieve perfect grinding on high-quality furniture glass!

Thanks to the experience gained in more than 40 years of designing and manufacturing grinding machines, at Lattuada this type of glass processing no longer holds any secrets for us: we have all the knowledge necessary to advise you on how to process corners, edges and jagged glass surfaces. Glass cutting, polishing and edging are the specialty of one of our lines of glass grinding solutions: the TL series.Equipped with reinforced guides and higher pads, the TL edging machines are the most flexible in our range: as well as process particularly heavy glass sheets (up to 1.600Kg), they can switch from processing thick to very thin glass without losing either quality or speed. And if you have special needs, our team will also develop custom designs to make exactly the dedicated furniture glass grinding machine that best suits your needs. In this way you will be sure to get perfect grinding on high quality furniture glass!

The first thing to consider in order to obtain a satisfactory result is that the glass grinding phase immediately follows the glass cutting phase: immediately after obtaining the pieces in the required sizes, it is possible to proceed to the grinding phases of the glass to add value and uniqueness to each individual glass plate. Specifically, grinding the glass with our TL series allows to eliminate the impurities and sharp edges of the glass che solitamente rimangono dalla fase di taglio vivo e ottenere un vetro pronto per il suo utilizzo finale.

To obtain a perfect grinding on high-quality furnishing glass, in the first phase of glass grinding we recommend to rely on the action of stone wheels or diamond wheels; then the treatment can proceed with a second cleaning and a further refinement of the edges through a polishing carried out with fine-grained diamond wheels. After the polishing, a final cerium-impregnated wheel gives the glass edge a perfectly shiny, glossy finish; in this way the famous polished edge grinding is obtained. The edges obtained with this processing can be of different shapes and finishes depending on the type of grinding wheels used. Although this sequence of operations is ideal for high-quality furniture glass, glass grinding is generally a necessary activity for any type of application for which the glass sheet is intended, so the steps we have highlighted can be used also to grind glasses with different purposes.

We therefore recommend to perform a correct and accurate grinding of the glass with the Lattuada grinding machines on any occasion, as this operation allows to eliminate any impurities from the glass sheets and to prevent the breaking of the glass in subsequent stages of processing such as, for example, washing. However, in the case of furniture glass, it is impossible to obtain a high-quality decorative glass that has not been worked and beveled thanks to grinding!
